Open sores on my arm?

I've had some open sores on my arm for probably over a month now. I thought that it would go away like any other minor cut/scrape does, but it hasn't gone away.

It began as what I thought might have been a clogged pore or a pimple or something. I've scratched it and picked at it some... I know, it's horrible and I shouldn't do that. So now it's an open sore. And there are a couple more around it that started out like pimples as well that have just recently showed up.

I have no idea what it could be. It's on the top my forearm and nowhere else. My husband has messed with it some to help clean/put antibiotic on it and he hasn't gotten anything like this on him... and neither has my son.

I haven't had any sexual partners other than my husband and I've been tested plenty of times for any STDs... since being pregnant and all. Plus, I don't see how I'd get an STD on my arm anyway.

I have no idea what this could be, but it's starting to worry me that it's not going away, but that other "pimples" are showing up. There are about 3... and they itch so bad.

Any ideas of what it might be? I guess I should see a doctor... But I think that some sores on my arm is something silly to go to the doctor for.

It is not silly to go to the doctor. Sores should heal faster than a month and I'm sure the doctor will be glad that you came in about this.

I agree. Because it is itchy, it sounds like some type of skin irritation. I'd go to the doctor just to be safe because you wouldn't want to get an infection. Even if it's something minor, they could suggest something to help.

I'm glad you've decided to go to the doctor. Nothing is too small to go to the doctor for, and you shouldn't feel silly about it! If you're worried about anything, just talk to your doctor.
