She says you may have a gallbladder problem yet she won't test for it? That's #1 doctor of the year... NOT. Get a second opinion. If something's wrong, you've got to get it cured/treated.

how? my gp wouldnt refer me to another specialist, the only other option is to go private but thats expensive.
she said that any tests would be negative, yet she said all the symptoms are typical of a gallbladder problem |

Fight for it. Tell her you need to find out what's wrong. You have a RIGHT to find out what's wrong.

thanx. i really do need to get it sorted but she dosn't have any more appiontments for the next 4 months. i need something done now, i think ive waited long enough. she sent me away from the first appointment telling me to ignore the pain for 2 months to see if it went away, the pain had already been there for 6 months what did she think was going to happen??

I don't think that was right of her. If you annoy them enough, they'll cave in and give you the test. Just gotta speak up and tell them you need that test to find out what's wrong as it's giving you discomfort. Feel free to PM me anytime.

Crappy doctor, yes.
It may be expensive, but it may be worth going private. Or ask your GP to refer you to someone else because you think she's crap. Well, obviously don't say it like that But I really don't get why she won't test for it because you're 'too young' to have a gallbladder problem. That's like saying you're too old to get an STD.

i dont know about any walk in clinics, maybe ill look into that, thanx.
i know it may be rare to have gallbladder problems at a young age, but it cant be impossible, i know at least 4, 17-20 year olds who have had their gallbladders removed (one of them was my 17 year old cousin). |

i was 15 when i had my gallbladder removed so it is possible it can be related i would say going to the er and just saying that you needed someone else to help you since your GP wasnt helping you much

Your doctor sounds completely useless. If there's not a near-by walk-in clinic, try going to a hospital because any nurse would admit you if you've been experiencing chronic pain for 8 months. Gallbladder disease symptoms are incredibly similar to other GI symptoms, so a simple ultrasound or x-ray could detect chollelytiasis. Alternatively, an endoscopic gastroscopia can be used if ultrasounds and x-rays are negative or inconclusive. You don't need to be of a certain age for this and getting a simple ultrasound or x-ray isn't terribly harmful.
I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

My mom had bad pain for a year, not constant but when she had it she went to the ER. Her dr. Did a gallbladder test but brushed it off. This last time she went to the ER she had her gallbladder out because it was so bad. Her dr said the test came out a positive a year ago but she was too young so they brushed it off.
Definitely get a second opinion. "'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.' I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish. 'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.' 'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said. 'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'" |
