Cancer?

So my best friend recently told me that she had cancer in the past and it has come back. She just got her test results and they have given her 6 months to live unless she has an expensive surgery and it is successful. I have no idea what to do on so many levels... How do I act around her? If something does happen what then? She is too young to die. She hasn't even graduated high school yet.

You act like nothing is wrong. Don't act weird about it because she needs you the most now. Show her how much you care for her and see her as much as you can. My best friend is currently goinng through test to see whats wrong with her and they think it can be an early stage of lymphoma. I am very worried for her. The last thing they need is to feel unwanted and unloved.

I wouldn't say act like nothing's wrong ... but certainly don't start treating her specially. Like do normal things, but if she needs to talk then be there for her. Make sure she knows how much she means to you, and that you will be there whatever she wants or needs.

There are several organizations that will help pay for surgery. Make sure she knows that.

Don't pretend nothing is wrong, but don't bring it up unless she does. Act normal, but if she wants to talk about it, let her and converse with her. Show your support. I hope she can get the surgery.

she has found enough money to pay for the surgery, her parents wont pay for it at all. thank you for the advice. im not sure when she is getting it, but i guess sometime soon.

Gosh, that's reall horrible that the wont pay for her life :L saying that, I don't think hospitals can deny yo surgery if it's life or death.

Hospitals can because this isn't a "in-the-moment" life or death thing. This isn't "urgent" in terms of hospitals. So, they can refuse.

As I said, there are several organizations that will pay for treatments. You're almost never denied those.

Ah, just realised you are in the states? In england, hospital treatment is free anyway and they can never refuse if it's life or death
