Accidental mild overdose! - January 3rd 2012, 09:29 PM

So yesterday I had been taking Ibuprofen throughout the day and i didnt realize until too late that I had taken just about double the maximum dose over the course of a few hours (i read later that you shouldn't exceed six within 24 hours). I started getting really dizzy and feeling like I was going to pass out. I was unsteady on my feet, was nauseas, and I couldnt focus on anything because the room was spinning. My boyfriend told me I was shaking which I wasnt aware of. This lasted a few hours. I feel okay today, but Ive almost fallen several times which isnt normal for me. Im a bit concerned because i have put my body through alot over the past few years. I drink a fair amount of alcohol every day (ive had a drinking problem for 7 years...ive been trying to stop), have abused prescription painkillers, and had a pretty major intentional overdose from tylenol which landed me in the emergency room 5 years ago. Do you think the ibuprofen yesterday did any significant damage?

That's a waste of time.

It will never happen.
Life is about finding yourself,
And finding people who accept that person.

It's hard to tell whether it has done any significant damage. However, with your past medical history and with the fact that Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory which can affect the lining of the stomach, i'd suggest getting it checked out. Drink plenty of milk and have some yogurts as they're good for the stomach. Try and stay off the ibuprofen for a while. Or, at least, until you get it checked out.

I hope you feel better soon.

Normally I would say no, but with your history you might have. I suggest just seeing how you do within the next day or two. If it gets worse or you experience stomach pain, see a doctor. Otherwise I think you will be fine

But, if you are worried and can see a doctor, it's always good to check to make sure.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...
