Hangover Cures - April 25th 2009, 12:44 PM

I did have a quick search, so sorry if this has already been asked (or sorry if I'm not allowed to ask) but...

What hangover 'cures' do you implement? (Yes, I has one right now... or just an alcohol headache)

loads and loadsa and loads of water. that's the only thing that seems to work really. the reason you feel like shit is because you're dehydrated, so water is the cure.

my mum swears by green tea, but it looks disgusting so i haven't tried it lol

Hair of the dog,
Drink a little bit the next morning and it cancels out the hangover pretty well.

Alka seltzer, or as Dylan Moran in Black books says, "fizzy good make feel nice"
I've some friends who swear by Irn Bru, some horrible orange Scottish drink , but doesn't taste like orange sadly.
I like coffee, and warmth.

After a night of a little to much excess I do the following:
-drink water
-drink a bit of orange juice (it makes me feel better for some reason but if your stomach is upset I wouldn't recommend it because it is acidic)
-take a multivitamin
-caffeine caffeine caffeine (mostly works to stop my headaches)
-take an OTC painkiller (ie aleve, advil, etc.)
-take an antiacid (tums, mylanta, etc.)
-sometimes I will be fine all night but throw up heavily the next day and when that happens I take a prescription antiemetic
-take it easy and don't plan to run a marathon or any insanity like that

Plenty of water, a coffee or two, and mindless daytime tv. Fab.

Well, for me, not drinking alcohol really does the trick.

This seems rather obvious and pointless..

Water, caffeine, figure out what you may have done if your memory is foggy, pain killers, sleep and presto.

I apologize if you feel that way, but I am simply offering valid advice. Logically, if you don't want a hangover don't drink. No harm done by saying it, I feel, so please don't say that my posts are pointless.

If it's a hugeee hangover, it's bad but i do normaly drink a bit more. =\
other than that,
shower, coffee and cocopops (Y)!
then a day of pajamas and bad tv.
Unless i have college or work then its shower, coffee, and painkillers haha

True, logically if you don't want a hangover then don't drink, I agree. However, if someone has a hangover already and wishes to know some remedies for it, saying not to drink isn't entirely useful at that point in relieving the hangover. It's useful in saying how to avoid future hangovers, but that's not the issue of the thread.

Peptobismol for your tummy, no aspirin, that's bad for you after you drink, it makes your live cry. Through out the night while you're drinking, drink lots and lots of water, after every time you vomit (if you do stop drinking unless it's just right after a shotgun), drink a glass of water. And before you go to bed drink a glass of water. Stop drinking about an hour before bed so you can have the alcohol absorbed into your blood and can have water to dilute it some while you sleep.

Big thing, WATER WATER WATER!

Edit: I have never had a hangover following my advice up there. And in my whole life, I have had one hangover, I did not follow my advice up there!

Msbunnykins, to my knowledge the original poster isn't retarded, so i'm sure they already knew that not drinking=no hangover. That's not valid advice to give. They already have a hang over and wanted tips on how to make it go away, not tips on how to not get a hangover.

Anyway, OP i've heard a plethora of things to do that have cured my friends hangovers, because miraculously, i've never had one after drinking lol. I've heard eating pickles or drinking pickle juice will help, or getting an amazingly greasy breakfast from McDonald's does the trick. Drink something carbonated. Out of all the people I know who've had hangovers they've thrown up a ton by drinking copious amounts of water, so just sip on whatever you drink.

Re: Hangover Cures - April 30th 2009, 04:39 PM

well i normaly feel sick when i have a hangover so i dont eat anything with a lot of fat in it (once i had the biggest hangover ever and my dad made really greasy hamburger and he didnt know i had been drinking, i nearly died! lol)
so i eat cornflakes and drink lots of water and milk.
i also read you should drink coke, its really good for (when you've got a hangover) because it has caffeein and sugar in it and salty toast should be good for you too.

heres a link to a website with more ideas: http://www.rupissed.com/hangovercures.html

hope it helps =)

its really good that you posted this thread, cause Ill be on camp next week which is basically one big drinking festival for even the teachers join in, well some of them anyway

hope you feel better soon

Re: Hangover Cures - May 2nd 2009, 08:26 PM

the best thing is either paracetamol or ibuprofen with a glass of water, continue drinking fluids throughout the day such as tea and water. although the only thing that cures my hangover is a mcdonalds haha. i was very much hungover today and without a doubt the worst i had been in some time, but my mcdonalds helped, i believe different hangover cures help different people.

when i was 7 they said i was strange
i noticed that my eyes and hair werent the same
i asked my parents if i was ok
they said your more beautiful
and thats the way

"id rather be hated for who i am than loved for who im not"

why is everything with you soo complicated,
why do you make it hard to love you oh i hate it,
cuz if you really wanna be alone,
i throw my hands up cuz baby i tried,
everything with you is soo complicated!

you cant "cure" one. you can just lessen the symptoms like a normal migraine/headache.
I'd try to drink less alcohol in the future.
