Unhappy A Slight Crisis - February 21st 2009, 11:39 PM

I spent all my money this weekend on a present for my brothers birthday,
And I only have one cigarette left.
I've got to last the whole week until I get money on friday without smoking and I don't know how i'm going to do it.
Any ideas on how I could survive the week, and fight the cravings?

Chew gum. Talking to friends. Drawing, doing calming activities.

I heard the first three days were the worst so maybe you'll consider quitting after this week? Smoking is so bad for you.. you know that, right?

It only takes like.. 7 days to reprogram your brain to not smoke, I think. So maybe you just.. won't smoke after this? It's so much better if you quit, for health reasons.

But in order to kill the cravings, try gum or sunflower seeds? Or go running and do things to keep your mind off of it.

Yeah, like Brittney said, you can use this time as a chance to get yourself out of a dangerous habit.

My grandmother is dying right now of smoking related cancers. That sucker sure spreads fast. I don't mean to be morbid, though. View this as a positive thing, not as a crisis.

Yeah I know how bad smoking can be, I'd love to quit but it seems so hard. I'll try out the suggestions, and I might have my last one now and start tomorrow on my brothers birthday so i'll be distracted all day, do you think that would work?

I think that's a great idea!
As everyone has said before me, not having access for a week will definately help you in quitting, cause the first few days are by far the hardest.
I hope it works out for you

Maybe try a patch or keep yourself busy. You could also bum some cigs off people. Orrr...maybe i'm going out on a limb here, but maybe you can try to stop smoking altogether?

I'm not in a great position to talk, being a smoker myself. But in all honesty being in a situation where you can't have cigarettes even if you want to is one of the easiest ways to quit, i'd take advantage of that if I were you. I wouldn't advise trying patches.. your addiction will resume the moment you have money,
