Is it okay to not like my parents? - November 5th 2012, 10:46 PM

I don't hate them. But I don't like them either. Is that okay?

I tell people i'm
tired. But in reality

i'm just sad.

Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted

Well I'm not a professional, but I would say that it is healthy for people (teens) to have times when they don't like there parents and/or hold grudges against them. I have and sometimes continue to be mad or 'dislike' my parents at times. There aren't many Teens that I know that 100% love/like there parents. Lets be honest, we (teens) sometimes want more freedom, or sometimes want to be able to do things and our parents hold us back. We see other teens who don't have much parent supervising and go out and have a great time while we are stuck at home. Simple things like that make us mad at our parents; or make us dislike them.

I've also seem situations in which people cannot get along with there parents at all. They hate them, they don't want to talk to them, they don't want to look at them, they want nothing to do with them. I personally think this is healthy but to a certain limit. If this is over a period of a few days and was triggered by a situation/problem in the family, then yes its normal/healthy. But if this has carried on for months/years, then its not healthy and needs to be dealt with (Via some-sort of family counseling).

Main point: Hating/disliking/being mad at your parents is normal; but only if it doesn't pass a certain extent of being reasonable.

Best wishes,

I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...
