Friends parents are divorcing,& she has to move - June 18th 2013, 12:43 AM

For her privacy I will not be using her name, lets call her... M.
Long story,short.

In early November,M's dad went hunting, as he usually does each hunting season. He was up in one of those tree stands used for hunting. When this happened he was drunk...probably the reason why he fell out of the tree.It was high fall, about 20ish feet, from what I remember.A few other hunters found him,& he was brought to the hospital.Later they found out he badly bruised his back.Because of this,he's unable to walk.He was in the hospital for a month, recovering,& having physical threapy.

The reason for divorce is because he's still drinking,& he's sneaking the beers when nobody's home,& other reasons she won't tell me.

Her dad not being able to walk is bad enough, now there divorcing,& she has to move,& her prized dog can't come with her.

What to do?

Give her lots of love and support during this difficult time. You can't control what her father does, and you can't make it so that she doesn't have to move, but you can continue to listen to her as she vents. You can let her know that no matter how far away she is, you will only be a phone call away. Let her know that she is not alone in this, and that while everything else in her life becomes uncertain, she can continue to count on her friendship with you.
