He's still missing... - July 27th 2013, 06:04 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I'm really not sure where to be posting this, but I'd thought this would be the most logical place.

My grandpa went missing on July 14 1996.
I met him at very young age around 2,& I never saw him again. He had some type of depression. He wasn't taking his medication, so we believed he went missing because he was mentally ill.

Ok...so apparently I found this online, when looking up him for a "missing person".

Morrissey was last seen on U. S. 71 two miles south of Margie, Minnesota at 1:00 a.m. on July 14, 1999. A sheriff's deputy went to check on him after area residents reported a suspicious man sitting in a car by the roadside. Morrissey said his car, a 1985 Chevrolet Suburban, had broken down, but he refused to let the deputy call a tow truck. He said his car had broken down before and would start again if he waited awhile. Morrissey wasn't acting unusual when he spoke to the deputy.

At 2:30 a.m., another police officer checked the scene again and Morrissey was gone. He left his wallet and his two dogs behind in his unlocked vehicle. It's uncharacteristics of him to abandon his dogs. Morrissey was last seen walking down the center of the road at 1:15 a.m. A motorist saw him and had to swerve to avoid hitting him. The motorist said Morrissey walked right at the car, as if he wanted to be hit. He has never been heard from again and a search of the area turned up no sign of him. He may have hitched a ride out of the area.

Morrissey grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended St. Thomas Academy and the University of Minnesota, and taught carpentry at the St. Paul Technical Institute for twenty-one years. He was active in the Democratic Party and the Knights of Columbus. He left behind a wife, two sons and four daughters. His case remains unsolved. His family believes he may be dead.
So yea, there's what happened... & a little backround history.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that he's been missing for so long. I really hope for the family's sake that he's found, hopefully alive some where but even if not, as hard as it will be to accept it etc at least then you'd have some sort of closure.

It must be very difficult to not have that sense of closure. Unfortunately, this can happen many times in a person's life, whether it's in the form of a missing person, death of a person, moving away from loved ones, loss of a relationship, lost opportunities, etc. What kind of advice/support are you hoping to get from TeenHelp regarding your grandpa's disappearance?
