They Keep Invading My Privacy - April 30th 2009, 05:26 PM

I hate ANYONE going into my room uninvited......but my mom and older sister have gone too far. The other day, my mom went into my bedroom.......looked in my wallet and counted my money. Then had the nerve to tell me the exact amount of money I had in my wallet 3 days later when she got angry. Locking the door doesn't help! This morning, my sister came over......my bedroom door was locked because I was tired of my mom just walking in without knocking. While I was asleep, my sister decided to slide a credit card through the side of the door get into my room and didn't even knock. She uses knives, credit cards, anything...to get into my room. I even lock myself out of the room when I leave to keep them out and the door does not lock from the outside......... so I have to use my sister's techniques to get back inside. I scream and yell....sometimes even beg them to knock. My mom has the nerve to get angry at ME and my sister just ignores me. When I used to live with my sister, she locked her bedroom door from the inside everytime she would leave and she hated when people went into her room or even knocked on her door. I showed her respect so why can't she do the same for me??? They have no business in my room at all! The only time they don't just walk in is when I have someone over. I'm considering putting a trap above my door or something to teach them a lesson. I need ideas to help keep them out. I live in an apartment complex so I can't make any major changes or anything....

wow, thats so rude of them!! Have you told your sister exactly (and calmly) how you feel? what about your mom? maybe you could like bar the door with a chair when you are in there... other than that, i'd just try to keep anything thats personal our of your room or hidden (maybe taped to the underside of your desk??)
hopr this helps, and pm me anytime

PM me any time, ok? I'm always here to help.

it really weird who they're acting. i just realized that you're 20.. and this is your OLDER sis that you are dealing with... wow, this seems like something a 7 yo would do.. good grief!
maybe you could try like reverse psychology? like keep your door open, and let them in.. maybe before too long, they won't be interested anymore?

Exactly LOL. I am a grown ass woman and they are treating me like a child. In fact, this is MY apartment....my mom just lives with me temporarily untill she finds a new place. I just get no respect.

either that or you could set up a trap .

involving water pails or maybe sticky feathers or anything from that home alone movie (minus the electricity and fire )

that, or they just really need to know how you feel about this. rather than just talking to them, tr force-feeding the information to them because the things that they're doing to you are in no way good for you at all.

i hope everything gets better

As difficult as this would be, if explaining things to them calmly doesn't work - it is your apartment. If they don't respect you in your home, then there is no reason they need to be allowed there. Explain to your mother that you're happy to have her stay at your apartment if she'll respect that you're an adult, but that if she continues to invade your privacy, she can't stay with you.

It would be less than ideal. Your mother would probably be very angry. But there is no reason you should feel uncomfortable in an apartment that's yours.

Not around so much now that school's started

"Live a good life.
If there are gods and they are just,
then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Why don't you get a lock-box for your private stuff? If it's your apartment and you're 20, I think it would be acceptable to do that.
