Drugs?! Seriously?! - April 25th 2014, 06:40 PM

I'm so fucking annoyed with my best friend. He's starting to use drugs. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've caught him. I freaking jus don't know what to tell him! 1st he said he just wanted to "see how it feels." Then he said his friends forced him. And now he's like, "I sorta like it." I absolutely hate his friends because this is not the only thing they've forced him to do. I've never told him that I don't like them. And I don't wanna be the over protective one because I'm scared that if I do, he'll stop telling me things. And then I won't even know what he's up to! I've got really no idea how I prevent him from getting addicted to drugs. I really feel like slapping him so hard that every fucking time he goes anywhere near drugs, he remembers the slap! I care too much about this because I've already lost a friend to drugs..

I understand your anger, frustration, and fear, but as much as you care about somebody, you can't control what they do. What you can do is talk to him and tell him that you're concerned because you care about him and you're afraid of what might happen because you've already lost a friend to drugs. He decides what happens after that.

It might also be helpful to look into Naranon or a similar, secular support group for people whose friends or family are using drugs. Website: http://nar-anon.org/naranon/

I think you should talk to him about this. Just say that you don't like that he's doing this, tell him how you feel about his friends. Tell him the facts about drug use and how harmful it is. If he starts using it frequently, encourage him to tell his parents and seek help.

Be yourself, because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.
