What's family? - June 11th 2009, 05:51 PM

I was just wondering, what do you think could be called "family"? Do they have to be blood related? or even if they are blood related do you have to call them family? Just a bit confused who my family is nowadays..

I think you have your family-the blood related ones. But i'd also class some people that arent related as family. Kind of like you can have a biological family and an emotional family. I guess fammily is whats there for you when your in trouble, they're the people that stick by you and treat you like you belong, thats family. I don't think you've gotta be related to class someone as family.

To me... My immediate blood family is those people I live with. Mom, dad, brother...
My blood family in general is those I'm related to by like, blood, or marriage. Including aunts and uncles and cousins and stuff.

But having a rather shitty family, my boyfriend has taught me that my real family is those I care about and who care about me. This little group changes and stuff, but for healthy relationships I consider those in my family as constant people that I can always count on. Right now... Since I trust very few people, It simply consists of my boyfriend, and pathetically enough my dogs. =P

Take me seriously.
I dare you.

I have my blood family i.e mum dad but then I have a sort of self-chosen family? Like 1-3 friends I consider being my family because of how close we are.

You were the angel of my life, taught me to be free
Now I'm a stranger in your eyes.
