Friend doesnt respect my beliefs - September 13th 2009, 12:50 PM

My friend (Lets call her "Beth") and I are on different sides when it comes to evolution. I believe in it and she does not. When "Beth" found out I believe in evolution she immediately started telling me I was wrong to believe in it, etc. I told her that I have other friends with her beliefs but they are respectful. We don't try to push each other to our side and let each other have their own beliefs. We also don't bring it up in conversation to avoid conflict.

"Beth" said she understood but when I got on Facebook this morning she had sent me about 20 invitations to groups against evolution or trying to ban it from schools. What should I do?

If what's she's doing on facebook is really bugging you, I'd simply talk to her about it. You could even message her on facebook. Be nice if you do decide to confront her. Let her know that you thought you had both come to an agreement to simply not talk about religious beliefs in front of each other. I'm sure she will understand this if you were to tell her that the facebook requests and such have been bugging you. As a friend she should respect your beliefs, and I'm sure if you talk to her she will realize her actions may have been a bit offensive.

It turned out OK and she apoligized. She had been sending the invites out to everyone and had forgotten to take me off.

Ugh, I have a fundy 'friend' on facebook who always invites us to the worst groups. I had to remove him from my friend's list, it was crazy.
