my party - November 28th 2010, 05:23 AM

i dont know what to do. see, my 21st birthday is coming up in like 3 days. i was organising it myself. a dinner with the family and another party with friends. so, last wednesday night, my boyfriend and i went out to dinner at this nice place. i chose that for my party. we booked it for my birthday. i went to my place the other day and mum said he booked a place cos she didnt see me much and it was getting too close the day. it was kinda sweet of her, but pissed me off. im not sure what to do. tell her i booked another place or go to the place she booked? she has like bipolar and depression etc. so shes not easy to talk to. please help! thanks.

If it really matters to you where you go, just say, "Thanks so much mom, that was really sweet of you, but I already booked a different restaurant for my party." It shouldn't be that hard, it's not like you're offending her taste in restaurants or something, and it is your party.

I second Dana. You're twenty years old and you're a young adult. Nobody should be booking things against your will. Be polite about it and say you made prior plans. She should understand.
