Unhappy I miss my best friend - December 2nd 2010, 10:38 PM

So a couple of months ago, my best friend Cecelia got a boyfriend named Luke. Ever since then I feel like I'm being tossed to the side. Whenever I'm there, Luke is there, whenever we're having a normal conversation his name always pops up. I'm happy that Cecelia is happy, but I just wish it could be just us once and a while talking about something else. I have talked to her about it before and all of the Luke talk has died down a bit. I also started hanging out more with other people and that helps to take my mind off of things for a bit.
She has also been trying to set me up with a ton of guys so that I can experience the happiness that she's experiencing, but I don't need a boyfriend to be happy, I just don't think that she understands that. Sure, it would be nice, but I don't need a boyfriend to be happy.

Hey, there. I know exactly how you feel; that's how it was when my best friend got a boyfriend. But I found that after a little while, the excitement died down, and she started hanging out with other people more and talking about him less. I'd say just give the relationship time to cool down a bit. Sometimes when someone has a major crush or starts a new relationship, they think about the person nonstop, talk about them all the time, want to spend all their time with them, etc. After a while, though, things start to slow down a bit and return to normal. Usually. If it's been a really long time and things still aren't changing, I'd try talking to her again and telling her how you feel. If she's a good friend, she probably doesn't even realize what she's doing. As for the setting up thing, if you're not interested, you can just say so. Just explain that you're not looking for a relationship right then and that you don't plan on having one. That's the best advice I can give. Hope it helps.

That's nice to know that it'll die down a bit. And thanks for the advice for the stting up thing, I'll do that the next time she tries to set me up with someone.
