Unhappy Anyone from Kansas City, MO??? - June 6th 2011, 08:14 AM

what the hell!!!!...I have to move!!!
so my roommate just informed me she is moving to springfield,mo to live with her boyfriend by the end of this summer. i can't go with her. I have to find somewhere else to go by then. we live in st. louis. i want to leave here too. i hate it here. i applied for an EMT job at kansas city,mo casino and for a few lifeguard positions out there-they pay REALLY GOOD-$9 starting pay for lifeguarding...and i've been guarding for 5 years, still certified too. Coco keys water resort out in KC,mo is also hiring at the end of the summer for their indoor pool=] i gotta call them later today for details.

i've tried roomster.com and craigslist to find a roommate but no luck so far. i'd end up going to penn valley community college out there to finish my pre-reqs for nursing school. right now im on unemployment until Jan. i dont really wanna go out there with no job but i think it'd be easier to get a job if i was already living there.
But i also don't wanna get a job offer but not be able to find a roommate by the time i would start work; therefore not having a roof over my head.

i need somewhere close by penn valley and UMKC. preferably somewhere on the bus line. i'd be taking the train from st. louis to kansas city,mo. because i'd still be in the same state i'd still be able to get my unemployment. I can pay $500 tops for rent and utilities.

Anyone know anybody from there or have any ideas??

Hey, Nick!

TeenHelp isn't the best place to look for roommates. Most of our members are still living with parents/legal guardians, and while we do have a fair number of members who are 18+, most people are pretty cautious about giving out personal information and meeting other members in "real life".

So for now, I would stick to CraigsList.com and other online listings. Chances are, people will start posting "wanted" ads soon, as old roommates may be graduating from college and moving out. If you can afford it, I would also take a few days off to travel along that bus line you mentioned. Get a feel for the neighborhoods in the area, so that if you see any "wanted" ads, you'll be more familiar with the area. You could also post a "wanted" ad of your own. Also try visiting campuses in the area, as students sometime post "wanted" ads on bulletin boards, on the doors of lecture halls, etc. Finally, if you are concerned about money, it may not be a bad idea to take out a small loan - a couple thousand dollars to ensure you'll be able to pay for a month or two of rent while you start working at your new job.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread, since I feel there isn't much more advice that can be offered; however, feel free to PM me if you would like to have this thread re-opened. =)
