Controlling Friend. Don't know what to do. - August 17th 2011, 07:42 PM

I have this friend who im really close with and I trust my life with her. But sometimes I feel like she controls who I am. For instance, if i choose to do something she doesn't like she'll get mad at me and make me feel bad about it. Also, she tells me who I should and shouldn't date. If i get a text from someone and she doesn't like what it says she'll freak out. She doesn't know this, but a lot of the time she makes me feel bad about myself and I don't know how to tell her without her getting mad and defensive and without bringing up stuff that i did horrible. [Edited] Help Please!

Sometimes for things to get resolved, you got to do what you may not like. If she's making you feel bad, be open and tell her. Don't fold up if she gets angry at you because she has no rational reason to get upset, other than the fact she's insecure. A friend isn't meant to make you continuously feel bad and upset with yourself. If she comments she doesn't like a certain person you're going to date, tell her it's your life and not hers. If she doesn't like the guy, that's fine she can express her views on him as much as she wants but if you want to date him, then you're going to date him.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

If you haven't came out and told her that it's upsetting and you won't stand for it, there isn't anything to do.
