Unhappy I am scared to tell my mom! - October 5th 2011, 12:44 PM

Okay so yesterday I was looking for a plain ticket. I found a good looking one but before you got the end price you had to fill out everything doesn't matter if you actually want to buy the ticket or not. So I filled in everything and than you had to go to the next page where they showed the end price, it was way to expensive so I want it to cancel it but instead I pressed the book butten. So I had booked a plain ticket but I didn't even wanted that ticket. I e-mailed the company and told them that it was an accident, they just said that they just could cancel the ticket but it will cost 200$. Well I don't have that money and I am really scared to tell my mom because I don't want her to get mad at me, but I guess I have to tell her anyways but I don't know how. Does anyone has an advise how I could tell her about all that??

I'd try talking to the company first and try asking them if there was anyway they could lower the price or cancel the ticket without charge. If thats really not possible then I suppose like you said, you'd have to talk to your mom. So if you do, approach her in a calm voice and let her know that you have something you need to talk to her about. Tell her that you made a mistake (explain the mistake) and let her know that you are sorry and will pay her back once you get the money together.

Did you book the ticket with your mom's credit card/bank account? If so, tell the company that you had no authorization to buy the ticket, as you used someone else's information. If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid you'll just have to come clean to your mom - sooner vs. later - in order to give HER time to talk to the company and demonstrate she didn't authorize the sale. Explain that it was an honest mistake. If she can't get her money back, then offer to work for the money by doing chores around the house everyday, by forfeiting your allowance, etc. As long as you can demonstrate you are truly sorry and that it was an accident, I don't see why your mom won't forgive you after she's calmed down.
