Healthy drink ideas? - January 10th 2018, 06:58 PM

So, those who saw my blog know that I got a brand new blender for Christmas! Right now, I need some ideas as to what healthy juices or smoothies or mixes (non-alcoholic of course) I can make in my blender. There are three different sizes, I think 16 oz, 24 oz, and 32 oz. I just know there are three different plastic cups you can make the blend in.

Preferred fruits:
- Mango
- Pineapple
- Pear
- Apple
- Banana
- Strawberry
- Blueberry
- Raspberry

Preferred greens:
- Spinach
- Cucumber
* I haven't made any smoothies/juices/mixes with other greens beside spinach & cucumber.

Preferred liquids:
- Milk
- Almond milk
- Fruit juice
- Some variation of carrot juice, never carrot juice alone
- Water

Also:
- Ice
- Cinnamon
- Ginger

So any ideas based on what I've listed, anything you've made or heard of before, would be appreciated.
Also, I'm totally up for trying new things, as not as the taste isn't overwhelming. ^_^

Milk with the red top (because it's fat free)
also soya milk unsweetened (without the sugar)

I am not 100% certain what you would need for your smoothie maker but here is the main recipe I have tried. I think I got it off google but I cannot remember where. I might try and look it up and include the sources later.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie:

2 Cups Frozen Strawberries
1 Fresh banana
1 Cup Milk (you can use almond or any other, I believe)
1 Cup Ice
1 Tablespoon Honey if you want to sweeten.

I also know that there were a few threads created about smoothies:

http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f184-food-recipes/t147188-chocolate-cake-smoothie/ (This one isn't super healthy but there might be ways to change it up a bit which is why I included it)

I would also suggest googling as I know there are a few websites dedicated to smoothie recipes ... healthy and some not so healthy. I just don't want to link those because I know a fair few include calorie numbers and want to avoid that.

i realize innocent smoothies aren't the same as healthy and a lot of the cereal based drinks like weetabix on the go may still have a good amount of sugar, but the strawberry banana thing looks so simple (and good for us!)

Hey Jenna!

I LOVEEEEEEE Smoothies. I always make mine with yogurt, frozen fruit (bananas or strawberries) and I use soy milk most of the time. There's so many different recipes online and some that include greens, which most of the time you can't taste them!
