For a while, I've thought about becoming a vegetarian but my family eat meat a lot. The only meat I like eating is Chicken as red meat kind of makes me naucous.
I do eat red meat but only if I have too. If not, I'll avoid it. I don't know where to begin and how my family will have to 'go around' me becoming a vegetarian. I've joked about becoming one but my parents don't think I'm being serious. Could you buy and prepare your own food or at least help out with that? It might make it easier for you, if you parents refuse to make you vegetarian food or whatever.

I just east a meat sub (quorn) which doesn't create a major difference but means I don't have to eat meat. Most subs taste very similar and come in varieties so your meals are the same only not meat. Easier to cook too, just shove it in the oven and goes ok if you like gravy (of course only the veggie gravys). You could offer to cook it, its so easy even I can do it, but it'll be easier for whoever cooks to just do it.
PM/VM me any q's about the change... Xxx When life gives you one thousand reasons to cry, show life one million reasons to SMILE! ![]() Because we all love pigs |

You could go grocery shopping with your parents, if you can't go on your own, and pick up some mock meats. Some mock meat is pretty good, and yet can blend in at a dinner table of omnivores.
If you don't want mock meat, perhaps try tofu? Some companies make tofu already flavoured, diced, etc. so all you need to do is heat and eat, with some veggies. If you can't find anything like that, then perhaps pick up some Firm tofu, and a nice sauce to cook it up in. Cooking tofu is pretty easy, but if you feel you may mess it up, I suggest a quick Google search. If you have any more questions about Vegetarianism, such as foods to eat, how to eat healthy with cutting out meat, or anything else, feel free to PM me. I've been Vegan for a bit over a year, so I can answer a fair few questions.

My sister is a vegetarian (geez that's a long word.) and not gonna lie, my parents tease her about it a lot. She's only 12 but they agreed to buy her foods that she can eat.
She doesn't like the soy chicken nuggets but she likes the mini corndogs, just sayin' .I think it'd be really cool if you did, and I wouldn't worry about your parents or anything, good luck haha

My family made fun of me for the longest time... My whole family are huge meat eaters. We constantly have little get togethers using the grill for food. But I think they got tired of making fun of me at some point, because now they barely say a thing (and they actually make vegetarian alternatives when we have family get togethers).
It sounds like your family may do the same. But just ignore them. They'll eventually see that you won't change and will just give up and accept that you're a vegetarian. And who knows, maybe your family won't even think twice if you go vegetarian. Hah, maybe it's just my family... |
