My mum is dying - February 18th 2016, 10:17 PM

So basically my life is a bit shit at the moment and I just wanted to write about it so people could read it, and maybe gain some support from people, that would be nice. In short, my grandma has terminal cancer and will almost certainly die sometime this year, I already have multiple anxiety disorders and body image issues but my mental health has got even worse as we found out not long ago that my mum has a brain tumour. So now I can add depression to the list of mental illnesses that I have, which already includes body dismorphia and ocd. My school work is suffering too, and I usually procrastinate anyway but now I don't do anything. It's annoying because I have high ambitions in life and I want to do well but it's difficult at the moment. Well that kinda sums it up, I hope I didn't bore you but I'd just like to talk to people. Welcome to TeenHelp. You're going through a lot right now and I'm sorry to hear about all of this. You've come to a great community for support, though.

You said you have anxiety and body image issues. Are you doing anything to work on those things? With OCD, for instance, it helps to sit with the anxiety of not doing any of your rituals. Say you have to check multiple times to make sure your doors are locked. You could consider gradually decreasing the amount of times you check, or going without checking at all and sitting with that anxiety. It's rough, but it does help long term. For anxiety, you might want to consider doing some research on some breathing exercises, or finding distractions that help you cope with what you're feeling. Find some outlets, too. Consider blogging to clear your head.

I can't imagine what it's like to go through what you're going through with your mom and your grandmother. It might help for you to write letters to them to cope, or to look into counseling so you have some extra support. Just remember to take care of yourself through all of this.
