Golden Retriever - January 18th 2010, 10:23 PM

My dog, a Golden Retriever, the most amazing companion and friend I could have asked for was put down today (Monday 18th of January 2010). I went with him to the vet, stroked him until he was gone, it was the most sad I've ever been. It's been just over 12 hours, I'm missing him like crazy, keep thinking to myself that I'll go pet it, then remembering reality. I'm not a risk for self harm, intoxication or anything like that, I just need to talk about him, remember him for who he was and that he was a great friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. As you go through this tough time, try to remember the good times you shared with your buddy. I remember how lost I felt when I lost my beloved dog, so I know what your going through. Just remember all the memories that you now have of your hoover, for that is what will keep him alive.

Hey Nicky,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It is good you are talking about it and remember you are always welcome here. It always does help to get your feelings out rather than holding them inside. Pets become like best friends to you and they do mean the world to you so it is really sad when they pass away. But I think your dog has had a good life so hold onto those happy memories you spent with him. I am sure you gave him a lovely home and he was well looked after so he can't have asked for a better life.

I am always here if you want to chat. Stay strong.

Hang in there. It's not easy when a pet has to get put down.
Remember he's in a better place now and free of pain.
PM me if you need to talk.

I am so sorry for your loss, Nicky. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, and it often has just as much impact as losing a member of the family. I know that Hoover is up in doggy Heaven, and that one day you'll be able to see him once again. It's great that he lived such a long and happy life, and you were both lucky to be a part of each others lives. Try to remember the good times and the fun you had with him, and all the memories of him that make you smile. If you need to talk, PM me anytime.
