TH Book Club - March 8th 2020, 11:06 PM

Hey everyone, we used to have a TeenHelp Book Club but it kind of fizzled out.

Is anyone interested in doing this again? I can do this now that I have a Kindle.

That's great, hopefully others reply.

For those that might be interested, what sort of books do you like reading?

I'm interested! I tend to read thrillers, but I'm always open to trying something new.

When things in life calm down I'd be interested in doing it. I've always planned to come back to this but my life has been stressful and hectic.

I'll read anything, historical fiction, fantasy, some Sci fi, thrillers and some romance. I can make suggestions based on things I've read in the past few years.

I think suggestions would be a great idea! Perhaps each month we can select a genre and each one of us offers a book to read, and then we vote on the one we want to read. The winner will be the book we read for that month.

Thoughts?

I'm tempted to join in! I read pretty much every genre, although I'm not much of a fan of romance or horror.

Re: TH Book Club - October 6th 2020, 11:53 PM

I am going to be starting the book club up again in January. I am thinking of doing it 4 times a year (every three months). This will give people time to obtain the book and then we can discuss.

Ideally, I would like to get a chat room started in discord and we can discuss there. I will set a time when we can discuss spoilers etc. We could either wait till the three months is up or we could discuss them a certain time in the three months etc.

I do want opinions on books you all want to read?

There's two really cute books I have read this year and I am suggesting them.

The first one is The House on the Cerulean Sea (This is a favorite of the year) and You Should See Me In My Crown.

Would you like a combination of light and fun reads and books that have heavier topics, fantasy sci-fi etc?

I will be doing a combination of Middle grade, young adult and some adult.

I wanted to let everyone know that if I have read the book, I will let you know if there are any triggers etc. If I have no read it, I cannot guarantee that spoilers won't pop up.

Let me know preferences and any books suggestions. You do not have to have read the books! I am open to books you've read and books that sound good.

If I don't get any suggestions I will probably just pick three that I have read this year and enjoyed.

I think doing it every 3 months is a good idea!

I'm happy to go along with whatever and don't have any strong preferences for types of books. I do like your suggestions though. And I think maybe alternating between light hearted and more serious books is good too.

Looking forward to January

I like the idea of doing it every three months, or four times a year.

I also like the idea of switching between light, easy reading and the heavier, darker material.

I also like the idea of keeping books in the YA and adult reading level range. As long as the adult ones aren't filled with sm-t/gore.
