the perks of being a wallflower. - August 19th 2010, 02:10 PM

i just finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower last night.
and i was wondering what you guys thought about it.

i really wasn't quite too sure about the books. everybody that commented about it on Borders; really only had good things about it. & when i went to pay for it the cashier was like 'are you sure you dont want another one? for your friend? you'll love this book.' & when i answered no he said 'you'll be back.' so here i have this picture that this book is going to be like the best book on the face of the planet.
while i was reading it; i thought that it was good but i wouldn't say that it was the best book in the world...
but in the end; i really think that the ending [the last couple of letters and the epilogue] is what really made it good for me.

what did you think about it?

I read the book this last week and I thought it was quite good. I didn't think it was particularly amazing but it was good all the same, I'd read it again

I think I saw it on stage a few years ago, but I may be thinking of something completely different. Either way, I ahven't read the book, but I'd like to. Is it difficult to get into??

It's not difficult to get into at all - it's a pretty quick read and it flows really smoothly.

I was the same.. I'd been told by SO many people how incredible and amazing it was so I had high expectations. Then I read it and thought, yeah, it was pretty good but not what I expected at all. It's still one of my favorite books, but I was a bit disappointed with it.

I did enjoy the book but it was very over hyped.
I need to re read it though without the high expectations and make a proper opinion.

I also had high expectations--I expected it to be VERY good. It wasn't the best book in the world, but I still enjoyed it nevertheless.

I really enjoyed the book, because I could relate to a lot of it. It helped me through some really rough patches in my life, and was given to me by a close friend. I also liked that I could put it down easily because the entries were short. I agree with what's been said - it wasn't an epic book or anything. But it was simple and honest, and most of all, it helped me come to terms with my life and just be weird and quirky me.
