Anyone know the vampire diaries book series?? -

Well, I know that L.J.Smith has got fired from writing TVD and the new book out now(Phantom prt 1) isn't written by her but by a ghost writer. I just want to know if anyone knows is it continuing L.J. Smith's TVD the return Midnight?
I was in the store the other day and saw phantom really cheap and didn't know any of this until I got back home. If it really has nothing to do with the series then yes i would return the book unless you like it. No point in keeping a book that your never going to pick up again.
