Unhappy Why do I feel this way? - May 26th 2016, 05:03 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of peer pressure or bullying, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I am now 13 and I feel like the whole world is against me... This post might fall under multiple categories, but I chose this one. As I've entered middle school I noticed that everyone is judging me. I'm called fat, ugly, and have been told to kill myself. My parents don't know and I don't want them too. My mom will just blame herself. I look at myself everyday in the mirror and cry because of my appearance and I even tried unhealthy ways of losing weight. I guess that is a brief reason in why I'm here. The internet is basically my last hope in getting better.

I think it's normal to feel like the world's against you, especially when you're in your early teens. A lot of things start changing and you become more aware of the environment around you.

Have you told anyone about being bullied? I know it can be hard to discuss this with someone but it is influencing you into unhealthy and potentially life threatening behaviors and that's something you deserve help and support for. Consider talking to someone you trust, whether that's your parents, your friends, or someone at school.

I know you don't want your parents to know but having them know can help you in the long run. It's easy to worry about how your parents will feel about what you're going through, but remember, your parents are supposed to care for you. It's not the other way around and you need to put yourself first. You have to think about yourself and your health before thinking about them. Your parents are adults, hopefully they'll adjust and cope in their own healthy ways.

If you do talk to your parents, you can bring up the concern of them blaming themselves so they're aware of that. You can explain that you don't want them to blame themselves for what you're going through.

I think it would help if you replaced what people have been telling you with positive words and phrases. Instead of thinking, "I'm fat and ugly" think, "I'm strong and beautiful." When people repeatedly tell you things, you start believing them. Replacing those phrases can help you believe in more positive things.

I hope things start looking up for you and I'm here if you need anything.
