Panic Attack - March 8th 2015, 03:02 AM

I had quite an exhausting day today. My family and I went out to lunch today. The restaurant was very dark and crowded, I started to feel like I was being smothered and lightheaded. My heart was beating so fast and I could hardly breathe. I went to the bathroom to try and calm myself down (thankfully it was empty) but it didn't really seem to work. Finally the food came and when I finished eating I had to go outside and get some fresh air. It took me quite a long time to calm down. This is probably one of my worst panic attacks, and by far it was my longest one. Afterwards I felt very tired and drained. I've never felt like this because my panic attacks aren't usually this long. For a while my anxiety was getting better, but now it seems to be getting bad again and I don't really know what to do about it. Sorry I'm ranting, sometimes it just helps to write about it I guess.

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that your panic attacks have got worse. Do you go out to the restaurant often? I find that when I rarely go somewhere, I get really nervous. The more often I go, the calmer I get. Is it possible to calm to the restaurant more often to help you overcome the panic attacks?

Also, do you do any deep breathing techniques when you calm down? Perhaps taking a deep breath in for 3 seconds and out for 3 seconds, for a minute or until you calm down might help relax you a bit.

If things donít improve, are you in counselling? Could you talk to a doctor or counsellor about your panic attacks?
