Smile Anyone with Social Anxiety? - June 20th 2011, 08:28 PM

For me i keep on getting told that when i look at people and talk my eyes look somewhere eles, and i looked it up and it said it was nervs, I have lisp -.-, i did have a lot of problems growing up but it would take forever to write down Lol xx

It serves a lot of functions in my life. I use it as a way to punish myself, I use it as a way to medicate myself, I use it for the tension release when things get too strong or too built up. –ditto

Faking a smile like always

Arrow Re: Anyone with Social Anxiety? - June 22nd 2011, 05:58 PM

I struggle GREATLY with communication too. Not helped by the fact's that I cannot write (as in fisicslly move my arms/hands) and my reading is bad too. I know they arnt the primaryy forms of communication but still.
I also SEN/SLD but am still undiegnosed.
It's naturally me to be quiet and I am very shy, but I am also extreemly confident. A combination that never should go together.
But that's me, I have had to try everything including litarly forcing me to have a friend, it lasted about a week.
Im here going through things too.
Do you have any friends?

if people in school got asked that they will say i got like 8 good friends. But to be honest nobody in school is truly there for me and they are all fake. I just put on a fake smile and accept they're crap :L xx

I had to go to a psychiatrist today because my foster parents noticed I had "Problems" and it turns out I have Social Anxiety disorder, OCD, and Separation Anxiety.
I've always been awkward and nervous around other people, I just never thought about possibly having social anxiety disorder, aka S.a.d. : (

Re: Anyone with Social Anxiety? - July 6th 2011, 06:59 PM

Although I wasn't officially diagnosed, I'm sure I have GAD, actually. My doctor wanted to treat me for Anxiety with a daily medication (long story short, I turned down an every day pill, but have one for high anxiety situations of different types).

Anxiety can be caused by environment, but the genetic factor is a big one too. Honestly, I suggest you don't diagnose yourself with anything. You might just be shy, and have low confidence (especially since, as you said, you have a lisp, and other problems). Usually, if somebody has Anxiety, it'll peak sometime in their 20's (early-mid 20's, sometimes not until their 30's), but since you're still a teenager, it's too early to definitively know.

Honestly, I don't know what to tell you, except I wish you the best, and even if you DO have Social Anxiety, it doesn't mean it's the end of the world. If you ever want to talk about Anxiety, feel free to PM me.
