I'll be stalking this thread. I bite my nails constantly, as well. I've probably stopped for about a solid month within the past 14-15 years, heh.

Im not sure what you are asking.
Biting your nails, is usually either a nervous habit or a thing one does when anxious. Its normal. If you want ways to get rid of the habit. Put some vasaline on your nails and the taste will turn you off from biting. You could also start getting your nails done, like acrylic and such and you won't be able to bite. Always remember to put your happiness first.

I agree with Ashley. Many people bite their nails, or bite the skin around their nails, when they are nervous. You can put Bitrex or another bite-inhibiting chemical to deter you from biting your nails. I've also had friends wear gloves in the winter so they can't bite their nails. You could try wearing doctor's gloves during the summer, or just wearing gloves at night when it's not too warm. It's a hard habit to break, but it can be broken. =)

Biting your nails is a common habit that is done under anxiety, I do it too very badly to the point of causing myself extreme pain.
But there is nothing wrong with you, if that's what you're asking, you're not uncommon or doing something wrong. If you would like to quit it, I've heard of people putting chapstick or something on the outside of their nails, as Psy talked about. You could also start carrying around a file, and when you are wanting to bite your nails, file them instead. You also said you self harm. Is this within the nail biting, or seperate. Well, either way, you could use any of these alternatives for your nail biting, or other self harm: http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f12-s...ves-self-harm/ Good luck! |
