Unemployment - September 11th 2009, 04:33 AM

I got fired from my job on Aug. 27th after only TWO MONTHS of working there. Someone used a fraudulent credit card on my shift and I failed to card them. Personally I felt this was a crap reason because I was not trained to check ID for every credit card that was passed to me. It was not part of my training, therefore I believe they could have been lenient on me a little. Perhaps that is just me though.

I mean, it would be different if they said check ID for all credit/debit cards. But they did not - no one who works there does it! But, of course, I get fired. I honestly and truly believe that I got fired because I am pregnant. But, they had a valid reason so its not like I can do anything about it!

Anyhow, so now I am almost 8 months pregnant and I can no longer hide the pregnancy so I am not going to get a job anywhere until after I have my son. Money is tight and I am rather depressed about the whole thing to be honest ... it really sucks.

Yea, that's the real kicker about being pregnant and looking for a job. My suggestion to any woman who is in her early stages to not tell them at the interview. Because they'll claim they 'found someone with better credentials' and use that as their cover for 'we found somebody who is not pregnant'

Just hang in there, is there a father in the picture who is helping at all?
Just be trendy with your money and look for cheap alternatives and try to stretch your dollar as far as it'll go.

Also, once you do have your baby you'll have an easier (if it can be considered easier) time getting a job out there again. Just don't push yourself too much, you'll be needing that energy taking care of a new born

Good luck with everything

Thanks Brittany!
Yes, the father is in the picture and helping. He works full-time, and has a good paying job compared to some people. But, I just like being able to help out. I feel like a failure and a freeloader just sitting at home all day. It is so depressing. Especially when I see my boyfriend stressing over the bills and everything and there is nothing I can to do help. But, I am trying my best just to hang in there and not let it bother me so much.

Re: Unemployment - September 12th 2009, 11:07 PM

In retrospect that's the exact same position I'm in. I recently moved in with my boyfriend in another state due to college. He's from this area but I knew him from online and also his job is to drive and I got to spend time with him anytime he had to drive north.

But his actual home was very close to the college I wanted to attend for years. Right now I'm unemployed and he's having to pay all the expenses.

He's understanding of it right now despite being a bit tight on cash due to having a hard time finding a job - but I have responsibilities of my own such as cleaning and cooking. He also knows I'm a student and knows I'm working to better myself through education so he's pretty patient when it comes to that.

I'm sure your significant other (boyfriend/husband) also understands that and knows that you're going to have to have time caring for the baby - childcare is EXPENSIVE. You caring for a baby and doing household work is a full time job too! Trust me, as soon as the baby comes you won't be 'loafing around'
