What to do.. - February 9th 2010, 05:38 AM

Soo I will give some background information..

I've been working at my job since June of 08. I started training to become a supervisor May of 09, but was officially promoted at the end of July 09. I finished my training and stuff mid August. Then this guy was hired. We will call him E. He had originally applied looking for an Assistant Store Manager position, but only got the supervisor position. He trained for a month or so.

Then after that he got booted to another store. Then to the store I'm helping at. I mentioned to the Store manager, that I think having a supervisor trained as an Assistant Store Manager would be cool, and she agreed.

So she talked to the District leader, and she agreed to start training me. Then she mentioned that E had applied looking for Assistant Store Manager, so he gets to start training first..

Anyways, lately he has been treating me like I'm not on the same level as him. I get more hours then him and I've been with the company longer.. He's treating me like I'm brand new. When he has a couple days off, he says everything twice, and says how to do it. It's come to the point where I say "Ya, I know, I'm not stupid".. In his reply he says " I know you know I'm just reminding you because I'm off the next few days" I don't care that your off, I know how to do stuff.

So really, what I want to know, is should I be talking to the Store Manager about how hes been talking to me lately and power tripping by acting like he is higher on the ranking scale then I am?

Also, in regards to the Assistant Store Manager stuff.. He doesn't even know how to receive, he leaves it all for me, and always asks me for my advice.. I'm just really frustrated with this all.

Definitely talk to your Store Manager. The fact that he has been booted from store to store really says something about his work attitude and the attitude with his co-workers. They have "professional counseling" for people like him who cannot seem to interact with other people in a work environment. If his attitude is affecting your work performance, and believe me, being annoyed is a valid excuse to ruin your work attitude, then your Store Manager WILL do something about it.

Honestly, not necessarily. In the company I work for, Associate Managers will get moved around alot if they do a good job. They will get moved to the stores nearby that need them most.

That being said, if you feel that you are being treated unfairly I would talk to the Store Manager. If nothing else, it will get the air cleared out between the two of you hopefully.
