Question College Algebra - January 7th 2009, 08:03 PM

We're working on functions and average rate of change. I get some of the things but I have a question on some symbols..

In the equatoin {y|y>or=0} = [0,infinity)

what does the verticle line in between the y's mean?

I can never tell the difference between the [ and ) in writing the sets.. one is "less than or equal to" and "greater than or equal too" and the other means "greater than, but not equal to" or "less than, but not equal to".. which is which?

Thanks so much for the help!

Y such that y is greater than or equal to zero is how you would say it.
