Question where do i go - February 11th 2009, 09:12 PM

Feel free to move i just wasn't sure where to put this
Okay so at my school we support the banardos charity which is obviously a brilliant cause. but they've been advertising it with posters of baby P (for those in foreign countries who may or may not know baby P was a child that was a serious victim of blatant child abuse that the government did nothing for which led to his death) and me and my friend actually found that really upsetting and he went as far as to rip everyone down that we came across and i was wondering who in my school i would complain to?
and do you guys think we overreacted or would you have done the same?

I'd complain to a principal. If not them, then just any teacher really should work because they can talk to someone in authority for you, or help you to talk to them.
Personally, I wouldn't have torn down the posters, but that's because I have no real amount of courage. (haha) But, if i were really that upset, I might want to.

I agree to complain to the head teacher. I think that there are far better ways of advertising them. I am going to do voluntary work with barnardos soon, so yay for us!

I moved this to School and Careers, though I was torn between that and abuse. I would definitely talk to your principal or guidance counselor who sponsors this. It is a very sad story and certainly can't hurt to be addressed.

I'd have moved it here too Kathy

I would have a reasonable word with the headteacher that these images are not appropriate for a school and there are numerous other ways of advertising what Barnardos does

I agree with the above, barnardos does a lot more, and to be honest it is showing one side of it. Maybe they can have posters referring to Baby P but in a more indirect way?

Barnardos is an awesome charity btw, I dont volunteer but I know what they do.

hey, do you have anything like a head of pastoral care? or a head of section we always went to one of those two rather than to the head but that was just our schools system

i agree that, that shouldn't have been allowed
