Should i take a creative writing course? - July 14th 2010, 05:21 PM

I've been thinking a lot about what i want to do with my life, because i've had the time too being jobless and all. And i was thinking about taking a creative writing course. I used to be good at writing stories back when i was in school especially in primary school, but since i've grown older i've kinda lost touch with my imagination and whenever i want to wright something i can never get any ideas.

I don't really wright much because of this, but i know once i have an idea i can run with it and often find it hard to stop, the ideas just keep flowing. I've found this great home course made up by the proffessional writers as part of the Writers Bureau. It costs around 295 but for what you get i think it's a brilliant offer and well worth the money. They not only teach you about writing techniques for each genre but also how to get published, and paid for your writing and it seems like a lot of people have had a lot of success with the course. Also if you don't earn the money back from publications within 6months of completing the course you get a full refund, so you can't go wrong really.

I really want to do it my only worry is that i have a tendency to get bored of things and end up giving up. Like with college i started again in my second year and had all the motivation in the world up untill christmas when i sorta got tired and bored and gave up. But that's the thing because it's a home course you can study when it suits you i'm just worried that if i decide to take a break i won't go back to it and it will be a waste of money.

I'm just thinking it would be a great opportunity to find out if i have what it takes to be a published writer and see if i can rekindle my imagination. Ofcourse i don't have the money for it right now, but my boyfriend said if he gets this job he's had an interview for then he will pay for me to take it.

So what do you think? I mean the course really is the total package, i got a prospectus delivered to me and the modules include everything you could ever think of when it comes to writing. I'm just worried that i'll bottle out...

i think that if you are interested in getting back into writing that you should take it :]
maybe once you're done with the class..
you can figure out what you want to do with your life.
there are many things that you do with writing :]
you sound like you are interested in writing again..
so i think that you should take it... :]

i hope that you decide whether or not to take it..
and that if you take it you wont bail on it
and if you don't take it... i hope you find something in your life that you don't get bored of :]

I've always wanted to take a creative writing class. I think if it's something that you're interested in, then you should definitely give it a shot. Either you don't like it, or you decide it's something that you'd like to become serious about. Either way, you learn something else about yourself and explore your options for the future.
