Summer Camp Positions - August 4th 2010, 04:31 PM

I am thinking of applying for overnight summer camp. I am not sure when they start hiring. I want to say it is around January they start accepting applications and the web site is not very accurate.

I think that would be great. I would make sure you are up-to-date in CPR. Also, make sure the camp dates don't infere with your school.
Sounds like a great plan! Go for it!

I also think this is a great plan and am considering it myself

It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.
And PLEASE don't try and shove it down my throat.

I'm current in the Health care provider CPR till 2012. I think most also teach first aid during the first week before campers come since I won't have that certification. (Although, I hope I will be an EMT-B by then so maybe that would count?)

Re: Summer Camp Positions - August 5th 2010, 05:40 PM

I did my lifeguard qualification so I could be a lifeguard at a summer camp and when I went to apply they said I had to be 18 so that was a waste.
My qualification runs out this December and I would have to do the course again and pay for it, so I don't think I am going to bother.
If I get into Uni this September I will only have about 3 weeks for summer too so I won't be able work at a summer camp will at Uni either. I might do it at some point in the future though.

Re: Summer Camp Positions - August 6th 2010, 12:13 PM

I went to summer camp one year when I was little. It was so much fun, and ever since I've wanted to go back and be a counselor there. My youngest sister went this year, and it sounds like it's exactly the same. I'm so excited that I'll finally be old enough to work there this summer. I've been waiting seven years!

through the thinnest of the walls
don't you get yourself so blue
it's just the sound of me getting over you

I know in the US, it's 18 for insurance and liability reasons. I think there is also regulations somewhere that says you can have X kids per 1 adult.
