Smile acting/singing - August 4th 2010, 11:09 PM

ok, so i know i want to work with animals when i grow up but for right now i really love acting and especially singing. so i would like to get started in one or both of those areas and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for me. just to be clear, i have little to no money to spend, and school is about to start so i wont aways be free. but i am taking a lot of drama at school (no choir, sadly, but i do take lessons with the choir teacher) so i am getting better. is there any good way for me to get started in this industry? thanks

You can probably work it around school - for singing if you practice, sing at churches, old peoples homes and enter singing competitions.

With acting the best way forward is to perform in student films and short films to gain experience then try and get an agent to put you up for big roles... obviously it's easier said than done but I'm sure if you want to do it you will be able to

Hey there, since I don't know where abouts your from I'm just going to offer advice regardless.

Okay so your interested in both animals and music.
Bascially think to your self, which one of these are you most going to get accepted into. Music business is quite a hard thing to get into but once your into it thats it.

What I did when I was around 16 years old thought to myself okay what do I want to do when I'm older. I came back with childcare and music.
So firstly I enrolled on a childcare course, and thought if I don't get any where with music I have childcare qaulifications to fall back on. Then the year after I studied music. Still wasn't sure as to what I wanted to do, I went on to do public services reguarding children, but then went back to music.

I'm now a entertainer/ singer.

What I'm trying to say is, study the more realistic job idea first, then the music, because then if for some reason your don't like it, you have the animal qaulifications.

Then I just realised I'd read the wrong post lmao.

Find out if your school has any music/acting after school sessions running.
Or find out if your local area has, usally places like communtiy centres have little groups running that you can go to after school and on weekends.
So then you get to do the not so fun part of going to school but then having that to look forward to.

Good luck.

Try reading this: http://www.ehow.com/how_17069_find-l...-modeling.html
I also found this: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/94257

Some of those will give you an idea.
I also agree you should go for the more realistic job. Animalcare or something of the likes.

My one friend, joined the drama club, and then did festivals and stuff, and now hes on his way to being on television. So if your still in school definitely look into joining some of those groups.

I agree. Join high school clubs, and whatnot to get some experience. Good luck on everything.
