Backpacks! - August 12th 2010, 05:30 PM

So I've decided to carry a backpack at school. But I have no idea what to get. Im in 11th grade so its going to need to be able to carry a lot but not be gigantic. I want one thats not expensive but its not going to just fall apart either.

I didnt get one when I went on my school shopping trip and they've got nothing im intersted in, in my little town.

So I need some ideas. What backpack do you carry? What do you guys recommend?

My bookbag is Nike. It's too old to even find a picture of on the internet. It actually just broke, but I got it in 8th grade, so it's lasted 5 good years. So I recommend anything Nike brand, they are a bit pricey but completely worth it.

I use these backpacks http://www.grindstore.com/products/D...PORT_8178.html

They have loads of different colours and stuff and they're really strong and not too expensive

Hmmmm, I think that branded names are probably a better choice.
Whether it's a sports make like 'Nike' or a surf maker like 'Animal' I think they are really good quality and they DO last forever (Well apart from Beths :P )

Have you tried looking on the net at bags? But make sure you read reviews
I've always carried a rucksack, but now I'm going to college (possibly the same stage as you?!?) I'm just taking a really big shoulder bag to throw all my stuff in Our supermarkets here in the UK are pretty good - so I got it there.... not sure if you have the equivalent?

As long as hot blood runs through my veins
I'm still alive.

I really would steer away from shoulder bags, they have been known to cause back pain and problems because the weight isn't distributed equally.

I usually get rolling backpacks so I won't hurt my back with a shoulder one. However, I went to Target last Saturday and I saw a green Swiss Gear backpack. I tried it on and it was soo comfortable and had back support There was another type with a backpocket that could carry a laptop as well. They're expensive but worth it. Otherwise, I'd reccomend a Jansport rolling backpack, which is good in quality and very durable. They come in different designs and colours.

I always used Jansport backpacks. There's lots of different colors and patters.
Basic, simple and classic.

I agree with the Jansport suggestion. Always used 'em. Very durable, very roomy without looking it too.

I use Swiss Gear backpacks, and I've had this same one for about 3 years so far. Some of them can get pretty big but others aren't as big. I use it to carry my books as well as dojo/gym gear.

I have a Swiss Gear rucksack: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ef=oss_product (although it was about half that price when I bought it.

A good bag will have shoulder and back support and possibly a cross brace to help distribute the weight. I've always laptop rucksacks best because of the compartments

i use jansport backpacks too! :]
reply to what someone had said: i wouldnt go with a rolling backpack.
[i hope i don't offend the person that replied with rolling backpacks - if i do... im SUPER sorry!]
you're going to be a junior in high school and no one in high school even has a rolling backpack [at least not at my school]
but if everyone else has a rolling backpack - then a rolling backpack maybe something to consider.
plus people kick them D; or thats what they used to do...
theyll kick the bottom of it as youre rolling it...

The Jansport packs look nice, love all the different styles and colors you can get them in. I used to carry all of my textbooks in high school because my locker was down by the athletic wing -- I had an L.L. Bean backpack and it was NOT comfortable. Now I just use one of my old technical daypacks and only carry my laptop and a few notebooks. Right now I'm using a Dakine Pro II.
