military/college - October 3rd 2010, 10:16 AM

Right now I'm stuck between deciding on going to college or joining the USAF or the army.

I have relatives that have served in the army and they all say AF because they think I'm super smart and would do well with some computer job. which sounds boring to me. The army just seems more....challenging I guess. I really like the idea of being able to travel. I'm guess I want what would be more of an adventure.

I'm not very social so I was also wondering if the military could help with that or if that would go against me. And I'm guessing there aren't a whole lot of women in the army. I've heard some scary stories so I don't want to be the only female in the group.

I don't really know what I want to go to college for. My interests are scattered. I love photography/journalism but I've also always been interested in psychology. so I guess I'm just looking for some advice or similar situations.

The best advice we can give you is that it's your decision, if a suggestion doesn't jump out as something you really want to do then it's probably not for you. It's fine to have scattered interests, you can always major in something and minor in something else, or double major (I've even heard that some people tripple major, although I don't see how they balance it all). If you really want to do army then you should do it and if you change your mind later and want to go to college the option will be there.
