Question Persuasive paper topics? - January 14th 2011, 11:17 PM

For my language arts class I have to write a 5 paragraph persuasive paper on the topic of my choice. I have to choose a topic on the paper he handed out. I can't decide which topic to do mine on. I narrowed it down to 6, but I still can't decide. They're all topics I'm interested in and I could do a lot with for this paper. Please help me choose a topic. This paper is due next week and I haven't even started yet.

The topics are:

Legalizing assisted suicide

Animal testing- I did a research paper on this last year

Justifing physical force as a method to punish children

Doctors being allowed to prescribe conteception for girl under 16

Children beauty contests being harmful

Sex education in schools- I did a paper on this 2 years ago

well 5 paragraphs doesn't give you much opportunity to go into much detail.. but i'd probably pick Legalizing assisted suicide. intro, for, against, your opinion, conclusion.

we have to choose either for it or against it and give 3 reasons why were for it or against it and go into detail about our reasons.

Troll your class. Write a paper on why medicines and cosmetics should be tested on animals.

I'm against animal testing.

Re: Persuasive paper topics? - January 15th 2011, 02:41 AM

I can easily tell you topics that you should not do, because a) they're too controversial or b) they've been done a million times.

1- Don't do legalizing any type of drug.
2- Don't do lowering the drinking age.
3- Don't even begin to touch abortion. (Most teachers forbid that anyway.)

Now, onto topics you could do:

1- Why the No Child Left Behind Act is good/bad.
2- Why gun control should/should not be implemented.
3- Global warming is/is not occurring.
4- The world will/will not end in 2012.
5- Safe sex should/should not be discussed in schools.
6- Internet chat rooms are good/bad.
7- Dating co-workers is okay/not okay.

Those are just some ideas that sound appealing to me. Good luck. =)

Edit: Oh, I didn't see that you'd narrowed down topics. My bad. Anyway, I'd do child beauty contests - because you don't want to be repeating topics. Though, I can't tell you how many papers I've done on global warming. xD I haven't done any in college, though. I did like three in high school.
