Personal statement - January 25th 2011, 01:26 PM

I've got to have my personal statement finished by tomorrow evening so that I can send it off with my sixth form application, but I've got no idea how to round it off I've said about what subjects I want to do, why I'd like to take them, a little bit about what I do out of school, and what I'd like to do once I finish college. Anyone got any ideas how I can conclude it?

Telling a quick story never hurts. I think a neat conclusion that would get them to see you better as a person would be just to share a brief story that really shows who you are.

I'll give that a try ^^

Oh, and should I write it like a letter? I haven't put a "Dear sir/madam" at the start of mine, but one of my friends has and we can't decide if you're meant to or not

Well in my university application I put as the final paragraph...

Quote:
Ultimately, I believe [subject choice] is the right course for me as...[enter some details about why here.]
Perhaps you could use something similar to that but instead of putting subject choices in write about how you think that sixth form is right for you? Or you could put in something about how you believe sixth form is right for you as you're hard working, determined etc.

Mine for uni ended with:

Quote:
I enjoy challenging myself in day to day life. I feel that University will be one of the biggest challenges I will ever face and I am excited to accept this challenge.

As far as I know, you don't write it like a letter - you just introduce yourself and your life and go for it. I didn't use any sort of "Dear Sir" title in mine when I applied for uni. I don't think it's any different applying to sixth form.

(Btw - you write personal statements for sixth form? I had no idea...)
