ROLLER DERBY -
April 26th 2011, 10:51 PM
Hey everyone!
So I just watched the movie Whip It! and am now obsessed with roller derby! I contacted my local team and they've invited me to come along to their practises. I've never played before but have some roller blading experience (I know roller derby is on quad skates not blades), I'm stuck on what skates to get though! I don't want to splash out on expensive ones incase I don't take to the sport but I don't want to get crappy skates that might cause me an injury. Anyone experienced can advise me what to get.. point me in the right direction or have been in the same circumstance?? I'd appreciate any advice on roller derby (even if it's not about skates!) just in general Thanks in advance. I'm really excited. And now all your love is wasted and who the hell was I? ![]() |

Hi Jolene,
I'm glad you've found something that you're really excited about! I found some interesting websites on Roller Derby, but you may have come across them already: http://www.londonrollergirls.com/whats-roller-derby (Not sure where you're from, but I thought that was a good site.) http://www.rollerderby.co.uk/ It might be best to ask your local team about which skates to buy when you go to their practises. Sorry, I don't have any experience in this at all, but I enjoyed the movie and wanted to relate. Maybe someone else might have experience with this and will be able to give you some advice. Good luck, and I hope you have fun! Best wishes, Halcyon |
