Paintball - tricks and tips? :)

I'm going paintballing for the first time in my life, and am really excited about it! But I'm going to be meeting a lot of new people there, and I don't want to appear as bad at it as I really am. I'm going early with one friend for target practice, and she'll teach me to shoot and hopefully how to aim. But I was wondering if anyone here knew something that might help a total n00b? :P Thanks guys!

Who the hell cares if you are new to it right now. Everyone was new at some point and you need to start off somewhere. Regardless or not of if you do target practice before hand and we give you tips, you will still come off as new. Just how it is.

Some tips though
1. Layers, layers, layers. When going to a field and playing big time. Layers will be your best friend.
2. Have your friend shoot you with the paintball gun a few times during practice so you know how it feels before your out with everyone. This will help so your not shocked when it happens. They can hurt pretty badly depending on where you hit or how close.
3.Be sound aware, if your in a game and hiding. Don't be trigger happy until you are positive that person is getting closer or right near you. It will tell other people where you are at then your basically screwed.

Stay with your friend. Remember to shoot at a bunker to pin a person down, while one of you flanks around. Depends if you're playing Speed Ball or Scenario but don't be afraid to get aggressive and go up the field. You can always tell who the new players are because they huddle at the back. When you do your target practice take note of the decline so you know your max range.

Wear a long sleeve shirt with long pants and be aware of your surroundings. Also don't be afraid attack first.

Where are you doing it? In the forest?

1. Chose your clothing right. I remember seeing idiots running through the forest in bright white trainers. You're beginning to be seen then.
2. Get yourself protective clothing. It can really hurt if you get hit in the wrong place. Not just for guys.
3. If you're aiming, don't aim from your waist, hold it up and align your target through the length of the paintball gun, holding the back end of it to your eye.
4. Don't climb trees. Generally speaking it's stupid in paintball.
5. If you see opposition, don't panic. Take cover if they see you, or if there is no cover get low on the ground, aim first, then shoot.
6. Be aware of what's going on lol. It's tragically funny when some fool just walks out like a zombie and gets completely shot down with 50 paintballs at once.
7. Don't shoot without a brain, or in other words be trigger happy. Depending on the rules, you might need 3 shots to "defeat" an opposing team member. If that's the case, try not to fire 20+. Aiming is important.
8. Enjoy yourself. You're not actually going to die if you get shot so don't get too stressed out. It doesn't help.

No, we won't be in the forest - we'll be in the open desert. No trees or anything, just some cacti and a few large rocks. Hopefully some buildings, depending on what the combat range has up. Speaking of that, does anyone know of protective clothing that won't be too warm? It's already over 90 degrees here and it might be worse when I'm playing.

Ugh... I'd hate to do it in the desert. I don't respond well to heat when running around. Remember to keep yourself hydrated.
