Bicycling in Tampa, Florida -

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here has bicycled in Tampa before, if so. What is your favorite routes? I am just starting to go out and I'm not sure where to start. If you have any tips for me about anything, that would be awesome as well. I know I will need to get a bell, front and rear lights too. I'm thinking on carrying a water bottle, map, helmet (of course), what else? I think I want to carry two knives. One for throwing and one for not throwing. (I have no trust for strangers) Also, excuse me for spelling the city wrong in the topic title, if a mod could add the 'a' I'd appreciate it.

I'm not familiar with the Tampa area, but maybe try looking at some maps and checking out google for some routs? There are lots of places around you, I'm sure. Do you have any friends who have bicycled or would join you that can help you out?
