Harry Potter or Twilight. - June 19th 2010, 02:41 AM

I did a search for this and couldn't find one.
I think the one a person chooses says a lot about them. hahah.

Which is your favorite?
Why?

Personally. I love Harry Potter. It's wayyyy more realistic than a shiny vampire who doesn't drink human blood and falls in love. I'm still waiting for my letter to hogwarts.

Harry Potter. I feel ashamed for having to explain.

Better storyline, better setting, better characters, better writing, better escapism, better character development.

It's just better.

Twilight is not real vampires. Real vampires drink blood (at least Red Court ones do), and if a vampire falls in love, touching the one they love will burn them (at least with White Court ones).

Re: Harry Potter or Twilight. - June 19th 2010, 04:48 AM

I love both. Why? Because I can. Twilight is a different kind of story from Harry Potter. HP is action and excitement with a little romance tossed into the last few books. Twilight is a love story, sci-fi/fanasty, that causes action and excitement. When I was to be excited and scared and weepy, I read Harry Potter. When I want something calm, exciting and romantic, I reach for my Twilight books. Everyone is different, so everyone likes something different. Just because some don't like a book, doesn't make that book bad. It could be the greatest book in the world, and some people would still hate it. But that's life. So, I like both.

Harry Potter ... I've watched vampire films / read vampire books but Twilight just seems so "polished" - it doesn't seem to be about real vampires.

I don't really like either, I think HP is boring and Twilight is really getting annoying.
If I HAD to pick, I'd say Twilight > Harry Potter, but I'm better with neither.

I've stopped calling it Twilight and call it Twishit because it's such a piss poor movie. Harry Potter isn't a movie I love a lot but in comparison to Twishit, I take Harry Potter. However, it's been getting kind of boring with the same old story line and little variation. Each movie does have vastly superb acting skills and such in comparison to Twishit though. Consider all the Potter films, I'm voting neither.

Harry Potter. Twilight is a good guilty pleasure on dvd, but the characters are so poorly formed and its just very...self indulgent.

I'm guessing you mean the films as this thread is posted here. I've actually never been the biggest fan of the HP movies, I prefer the books a million times more. I don't like the Twilight books but I can't stand the film >____< Bella's voice made me want to fall asleep.

Just thought I'd point out, I've never understand why people say the vampires in Twilight aren't "real" vampires. Vampires are fictional, they can be whatever Stephenie Meyer/or any other writer at that wants them to be.

But yeah, I think HP is a lot better written.

Movie-wise only? Harry Potter.

Though Harry Potter wins hands down book-wise, too. xD

Twilight is trash. And , when you change a vampire as much as Meyer did, it ceases to be a vampire.

Harry Potter although Twilight's a sort of guilty pleasure for me right now

I've grown up with Harry and the characters in it are so much more fun, I don't really want to read about some clingy girl who's getting it off with a vampire and a werewolf. Although I'm going to read the books because I want to read about Edward getting excited and biting a pillow, don't ask I'm weird.

Twilight bores me. Its badly written. Badly acted. Badly produced. Overrated

When I was reading the books and came across that part, my head took it wayyyyyyyyy out of context, and I think she knew it would.

Re: Harry Potter or Twilight. - July 4th 2010, 09:00 PM

neither. both are annoying, same,in a way...its said. i never really liked HP and i dunno why. its just... classic for me and i dont see a special spark in it. it has special effects, great actors, we all love daniel r. and emma watson, for sure. it also has a great storyline though it was never that attractive for me.

i like twilight as much as HP. just cause its a chick flick and...guilty pleasure,( ) it doesnt make it "better". kirsten steewart was boring and attractive at the same time. robert pattinson was a hot vampire but very weird and wordless in the same time. all the time,i heard some poor conversations. the film was kinda poor quality. like...some vampire/human shakespeare version.

that answered,cause its neither.

I'm going to go with this because I'm too afraid to read the rest of the thread in case I see a post by someone trying to explain why Twilight is better than Harry Potter. I'm not in the mood for a laugh at the moment (more like a snore ).

But anyway... Harry Potter wins so easily it's like magic (Oh, how punny)

Haha, I've never really been interested in Harry Potter.
I tried to watch the second movie at a friend's house like a longgggg time ago and it did not strike my interest at all.
I've heard the boooks are amazing and I'm a big reader so I might like them but after trying to watch the movie, I just didn't even think about reading the books.
It's on my to-do list though to see if they're really as good as what everyone says.

But as for me,
Twilight.

BUT I wish she would choose Jacob. He would treat her so much better.

I hate to say it, but I actually like both. I've liked Harry Potter since it first came out so in a way, it's my first love. The Twilight Saga is okay. I'm not a die hard Twilight fan, I haven't even read the books, but I do watch the movies.

Comparing the Harry Potter and Twilight is like comparing the Beatles to the Jonas Brothers. One (Twilight) is decent, but it's aimed at a much younger audience. The lyrics to the Jonas Brothers is like the writing in Twilight, entertaining, but it's really not music, and Twilight is very poorly written. (No offense to Twilight fans, the story plot to Twilight is okay, but Stephanie Meyer can't write. At all.) Harry Potter is classic, it's loved by people of many ages, and it's goooood writing, just like the Beatles. :]
That was a long, slightly offense, comparison. Hahaha.
