Thundercats, Ho! - July 29th 2011, 04:12 PM

Anyone remember Thundercats? Apparently Cartoon Network has accepted a revised version....

It looks horrible now.

You can find it on their website.

I remember it faintly. If i remember correctly it was very cheesy, but i think that's because it was made in the 80s right? I only watched the re-runs.

Yes, it was made in the 80s but was really big in the 90s. It was very cheesy, if you didn't see it when you were a kid. As a kid I thought this was one of the greatest shows ever.

They based the characters of the 2011 one off the old characters, and it makes it look like fan-made art. That's what aggravates me. They should have used different characters.

I did in fact watch the re-runs as a kid. I knew it was cheesy then, but i enjoyed it for what it was.

Yes, they could've come up with new characters, but that would have involved some creativity . Its much easier to base it off of something already done.

I looked at the new character designs and they weren't too bad but I think understand what you mean. It is annoying watching producers reboot your favorite childhood cartoons and ruin their once iconic image. I am curious if they are going to change the storyline though.

They are using the same storyline, but they say they "dumbed" it down to be more simple.

How could they dumb it down, the story seemed pretty straightforward: Their planet was destroyed. Lion-o aged and then they ran into Mumrah (this is probably spelled wrong.)

Did they just leave things out, or what?

Ohh, I rememeber that! used to watch it all the time.

Hardly surprising to me that the new version would be horrible, most remakes are if you watched the original, because you expect it to be similar to the original and in most cases it isn't.

I have no idea. All I could find is that they "dumbed down" the plot so it was less confusing. I never thought it was confusing, though :O

I didn't think it was confusing either, but for some reason I'm not surprised. I will have to watch the new version and see for myself.
