Family Guy - December 19th 2011, 01:38 AM

Family Guy's gotten...well, weird, for lack of a better word. The newer episodes are completely out there and not in a good way. The last one I watched was the one where Joe's son comes home from Iraq suddenly and it's very, uh, unsettling. Worse was the episode where Quagmire's sister came to visit with her abusive boyfriend and Quagmire graphically murdered him. That whole scene was really messed up, even by the show's standards. There weren't even any actual jokes which made it seem that much stranger. Am I the only one who's noticed this?

"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it.
I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote,
“Dear Jim: I loved your card.”
Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.”
That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything.
He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."

It's always been crap, I don't understand how you're just realising this now >.>

Nah, it's not that it's crappy. I mean, yeah, the jokes are sub-par and it's not the most intelligent humor. It's like the writers have stopped trying to make it funny at all and have just focused on trying to shock as many people as possible with the violence. :/

I've noticed it too. I think they are just doing anything to try and get more viewers :/
In my opinion, they should bring Quagmire back.

I've noticed the same. It's getting really, really strange. I watched one a few days ago where Meg and Chris make out O_______O That episode wasn't too new either, so God knows what they're doing now. I've missed some of the newer episodes.

I used to find it really funny but now it's getting too disturbing, even for me. My friend Laura has a sick sense of humour and even she is getting disturbed.

I'm guessing they're trying to make it sicker for more viewers.

And this is why I watch the older episodes. I've never even seen the newest ones.

Re: Family Guy - December 21st 2011, 03:59 PM

The only recent episode I've seen is the one where Brian and Stewie go back to the first episode to find where Brian buried a bone (I think?). I thought it was one of the funniest I'd seen in a long while. All of the self-referential jokes were brilliant, like Meg's voice actress being different "Yep she sounds like she's about to throw away a massive opportunity." I haven't seen any others to say if they've become particularly mental though. I did notice they dropped more and more f-bombs as the series went on.

I have always thought family guy was stupid and senseless but I have friends that watch it and yes I have noticed it is getting worse I just avoid watching it all together now.

The shows are okay . It's just the jokes, are too off the wall, I can't laugh at heart attack jokes, people with storkes, and things like that.

Re: Family Guy - December 22nd 2011, 07:10 PM

The off-color humor has always been there, and not gonna lie I do love that stuff. It's just the senseless, unfunny violence. Before, the most violent parts were the episodes where Peter fought the giant chicken or whatever and that was more annoying than anything. Now almost every episode has some sort of hardcore violence :/

Yeah, the chicken scenes were pretty annoying. I normally skip those scenes. I love Stewie and Brian too much

It's really weird. I used to LOVE family guy but now I CBA. I think they're grasping at straws. It's not very funny anymore. Just annoying.

I like family guy but I don't think I've seen the new ones.

I personally like the new episodes and I think it is silly to over analyze a show like family guy.

Hey, it's only a cartoon! It's not like two people are in character kissing their sibling.
