guitar hero! - although that's probably only because i have good memories of being taught how to play guitar hero from a bunch of random guys i met in a hotel i stayed in, in Boston..

Band Hero is the best. Really anything "Hero" is good. Guitar Hero is also good.

I've never played rock band, but they seem rather similar to me.
I'd say guitar hero though, since I've actually played it. Guitar Hero for me, largely because of the song list on GH3. The controllers are much nicer too.

I prefer RB over GH tbh.. I dont know why, but like.. Rockband you can export 99% of the songs from each game and have one BIG set on rockband 2..
I do prefer GH controllers though. Ew at rockbands *shudder* |

I'd have to say Guitar Hero. I only play the guitar on those types of games, and that's what I'm good at...so I'd sooner just stick to that.

I voted Guitar Hero, but my real favorite is a free game called Frets on Fire. You can download thousands of free extra songs for it, it is highly customizable and runs on almost any computer even with low specs.

I've only ever played Guitar Hero on the wii a few times and i just couldn't get to grips with it, i prefer my real guitar
 aha, that said...i love playing Rockband on my sony ericsson, but ofc that's easy cos it just requires the usage of a keypad

I have played both and I don't remember a significant difference. I play Guitar Hero more, simply because that's what's available to me.

Guitar Hero all the way. I have both (a few different GHs) and there are just so many things I prefer on Guitar Hero over Rockband including the playlists, the controllers the fact that I never have enough people over to play with the 'full band' anyways etc.
