Mazuma - June 29th 2012, 09:38 AM

I got a new phone recently and it cost £43 to upgrade it but I could recycle my old phone with them and get anything from £30 to £37 which would almost cover the cost of the upgrade so I was happy. I only had two weeks to do that though to get guaranteed money back and as my new phone has decided to play up, I've had to cancel my contract back to my old one, send the phone back and will have to reorder a new phone so I'm using my old phone till I've done that which means, I can't send it back and get money to cover my upgrade cost.

So, I'm assuming you've seen the Mazuma adverts where you send them your phone and they give you money for it. I checked with them and they'll give me £42 for my old phone, the one I'm currently using, and seeing as that is my only option to get the money back for my upgrade and I don't really need it anymore, despite using it now, I thought why not use them? The thing is though, I don't know whether I trust them or not so I'm wondering if anyone has used them before and if they give you what they quoted/actually paid you/etc. I don't want to send a blackberry off to them and get nothing in return for it as every little penny counts as I don't really make much and that £42 is needed.

TL;DR: Considering using Mazuma to recycle my phone and get some money. Are they legit/trusted or not? Anyone have any past experience?

I personally have never heard of Mazuma, but have you tried looking up reviews online about them? Another good way to see if its legit is to see if the site is endorsed by well known companies like "CNN, NBC..etc" which will be on the bottom of the site if they are endorsed.

Good Luck!

I was going to use Mazuma but then decided not to since it was too risky and I was worried about them not paying me.

I did go to a shop called Cex though and you give them your phone, they check it to make sure it works and then you go back later in the day to get your money for it. If there's a shop near you then I'd say find out how much they'll give you for the old phone, their website is www.cex.co.uk

I've heard of Mazuma in the UK and Australia, pretty reliable company but don't pay out as much as other companies. CEX are up their with the best I agree.

Also worth checking out sellcell.com who compare phone buyers, you might get a higher price with these because of the comparison factor.
