I dropped my tablet - January 18th 2017, 07:20 PM

Okay that's not the main problem, it's now not only not responding but doing things of it's own accord like opening apps and unlocking; I can't get it to power off and I'm waiting for the battery to die. I don't know what to do, please help.

Hi Elizabeth.

Is it an iPad or another tablet? If it's another one what brand/make?

What I usually recommend to people with iPad issues is to hold the home button and the lock button at the same time until it restarts. Keep holding them down until you see the little apple logo like you do when you start it up.

I hope this works!

I second what Brittany said. If my iPad or phone stops responding, I hold the home and lock button, for about 10-15 seconds but sometimes it takes longer until the apple logo is displayed. This will do a soft reset (none of your data will be lost!)

You can also try recovery mode to erase and then restore your device to your latest backup. I've had to do that once when the boy I was babysitting had disabled my phone. Or try taking it to an Apple store. If it's not an iPad, then maybe try taking it to an electronic store that has services. Ie, Best Buy has Geek Squad, ect.

I hope you manage to sort it out!

I did a google search and found a few forum posts saying to hold the power button for about 10 seconds (could take longer though) or until it turns off and the boot logo appears. If nothing happens after 2 minutes, maybe take it into a repair shop?

It's not switching off I'm going to let the battery die then charge it see if that makes any difference.

Did the device come with a warranty?

It's over 3 years old so I imagine it's out of warranty now
