Exclamation NEW WEBCAM IS A PAIN! PLEASE HELP! - July 29th 2009, 05:00 PM

I bought a second-hand PC VGA Mikomi webcam today, with the CD. I installed the CD, then my Dad connected the webcam to the USB port in the hardrive and when i try to work it, it says:

'Sorry you have no video capture hardware. Video capture will not function properly'.

But it's CONNECTED.

So what do i do??!

If this helps, my computer is Windows XP.

The same thing happened with my new webcam, although it's a different make. I dunno how i fixed it but i think i just unplugged everything and took out the c.d from the drive, then i restarted my laptop and put everything back in and then a 'new hardware' thing came up, it recognized it and then i installed the drivers after that. I think you need to wait til your comp picks up the new hardware.

good luck.

Try unplugging your webcam and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work try restarting your computer. If that doesn't work uninstall it and install it again.

unplug the USB when the comp is on and then plug it back in, when it comes up with "new hardware" at the bottom right, click on that and it should come up with "find drivers automatically or something along those lines, make sure the cd is in and then select the option i just said, should sort it.
